Project review: The elegant and somewhat understated wine bar is part of Hawksburn Place Residences (developed by Gurner). You’ll find this low-key bar in the Melbourne inner city suburb of Prahran. The most recent building renovation was designed by award-winning Cox Architecture, David Hicks and Paul Bangay.
This iconic building features a curved art deco façade and is situated on the corner of Malvern and Williams roads, Prahran. The years have seen many commercial entities take up residence here. Originally a petrol station, later a car dealership and now a place to enjoy wine and cocktails. The extensive renovations have returned the site to its heritage condition. This process valued craftsmanship and attention to detail. Metro’s steel window framing and glazing enhance the bar’s mosaic marble floors and dark-stained timber joinery, providing modernity and a contemporary twist.
